MAMOUIt is with heavy hearts and great sadness that the family of Irene McGee announces her passing on Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at Savoy Medical Center surrounded by her loved ones. She was 91 years old. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, November 29, 2012 at 3:00 pm a St. Anns Catholic Church in Mamou. Rite of Committal will follow in the New St. Anns Cemetery in Mamou with Father Mark Melancon Celebrant.
Irene and her husband were owners of Rods grocery store many years ago. She was a member of Catholic Daughters of America of St. Anns Catholic Church, cherished gardening, crafts and loved making boudin. A loving mother, grandmother and friend will be sadly missed by her four sons, Julius Carl McGee and wife Janice of Lake Charles, Roger Dale McGee and wife Gale of Mamou, Clayton McGee and wife Dianna of Mamou and Michael McGee and wife Bonnie of Mamou Anthony Rougeau son of Delores nineteen grandchildren, fortyfive great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren.
She now rests in heaven with her beloved husband Rodnis McGee, her adored parents Julius and Eleanor Fontenot and her dearly loved daughter Delores Chapman.
At the request of the family, visitation at Ardoins Funeral Home in Mamou on Wednesday, November 28, 2012 from 3:00 pm until 9:00 pm and again on Thursday, 8:00 am until time of services. A rosary will be held at 6:00 pm on Wednesday.
