Ignacio "Nacho" Sanchez, 76, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his children, on Wednesday, September 10, 2025.

Ignacio was born on February 2, 1949 in Corpus Christi, TX to Audon and Beatrice Sanchez.

He was a proud American and Army Veteran who served in Vietnam. Through courage and bravery, he earned the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with one bronze and one silver star, the Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 Device, two Overseas Bars, three Service Stripes, the Combat Infantry Badge, the Bronze Star Medal, the Purple Heart with one oak leaf cluster, and the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry.

Ignacio was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He married Penny Ann Thomas of Port Arthur, TX on May 17, 1980. For them, it was love at first sight. They held each other's hands throughout life's journey for 43 loving years. On October 1, 2023, their oldest son, Michael, officiated the renewal of their wedding vows at their home in Mamou, Louisiana. They were surrounded by their children and grandchildren.

Ignacio is survived by his children: Michael & Melisa Sanchez, Misty (Army Veteran) & Ashlie Sanchez, Melody Sanchez-Figueroa (Active Duty Army) & Jason Figueroa (Active Duty Army), Shannon & Ashley Sanchez; Nine Grandchildren: Devon Casey, Brandon J. Savoie, Skylar Figueroa, Wesley LeBlanc, Hayden Sanchez, Kamie & Kenzie Whitehead, and Kallie & Kylie Hall; Three great-grandchildren: Allison Casey, Kimberly Casey, and Kayden Savoie; Five siblings: Alicia Morrison, Jose Sanchez, Alberto Sanchez, Esperanza Sanchez, and Rosa & Pedro Sanchez, and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He is preceded in death by his wife Penny, granddaughter Cheyenne, parents, Audon & Beatrice Sanchez, three brothers, Vincent (Army Veteran), Lucio (Army Veteran), and Damacio Sanchez, two sisters, Francisca Cabrera, and Anatricia Cardenaz, and his nephew and, Mark Sanchez (Army Veteran).
