MAMOU-Funeral Services will be held at a 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Mamou on Tuesday, January 09, 2018, for Eltria Allen, 84, of Mamou.
Father Billy Massie, Pastor at St. Ann's Catholic Church, will be celebrant of the mass and will conduct all funeral services.
Burial will take place in the Pine Claire Community Cemetery.
Jesus called Helene Eltria Deculus Allen to her eternal rest on January 4, 2018 at 9:20 PM at Opelousas General Hospital. Eltria was a resident at Senior Village in Opelousas, LA.
Helene Eltria Deculus Allen was born on July 5, 1933 in the Pine Claire community near Mamou to the late Lecio and Melize Gobert Deculus. She was the second child of five children.
Eltria was a homemaker and farmer. She was a prayerful person who earnestly lived her life in service to others. She gave her love to her family, friends and others. She was also a parishioner of St. Ann's Catholic Church in Mamou, LA and Mallet, LA.
Survivors include her loving son and his family, Ronald P. Allen and wife Rhonda; granddaughter Taryn Bernard and husband Jasper; and two beautiful great-granddaughters, Addisyn and Amelia of Lafayette, LA; sister, Helena D. LeDee and husband David of Mallet, LA; and brother and godchild, Felton P. Deculus and wife Alfredia of DeRidder, LA.
She also leaves behind to mourn one aunt, Lillian Lavergne from Tennessee and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, sister-in-laws; and two other god children Marcus Allen and Randolph Fontenot. Also, two young girls who were Eltria's caretakers during some of her illnesses as a young mother, Ellen D. Patin and Cora C. Veal. They were her angel girls.
Eltria was preceded in death by her husband, Milton P. Allen and daughter, Joyce Lee Allen; her parents, Lecio and Melize Gobert Deculus; brothers Joseph and Melton Marck Deculus; grandparents; and a host of other relatives.
We would like to thank the staff at Senior Village for the care given to Eltria; especially the CNA's for their wonderful care. The memories of her life will live on in our hearts forever with love and compassion.
The family requests that visitation be observed at Ardoin's Funeral Home of Mamou on Monday, January 8, 2018 from 4:00 PM until 10:00 PM. A rosary will be recited in French by Deacon Gene Lebouef at 7:00 PM on Monday. Visitation will resume on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 from 8:00 AM until time of service.
