MAMOU- Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM for Helen Ann Bertrand, 88, at Ardoin's Funeral Home of Mamou on Tuesday, November 21, 2017, who passed away on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at her residence surrounded by her loved ones.

Reverend Joshua Johnson will be conducting the funeral services.

Rite of Committal will take place at The Baptist Cemetery.

Helen married Roy Bertrand at the age of 14 in September of 1943. Roy went on to serve his country and Helen, with the support of family and friends waited for Roy's return from the battles of WW11. Helen and Roy's life was never extravagant or luxurious but substantial. Helen raised two children while Roy went off to work. Helen and Roy were both committed to serving the Lord in every way possible and Helen was very active in church activities for all of her life. Helen's strong faith in the Lord is evident from highlighted scriptures in the Bible that she always kept near. She was a breast cancer survivor and when she felt she wasn't doing enough in the church she also committed herself to become a volunteer for the Pink Lady Organization and Hospice. Always concerned about the well being of family, friends and even strangers, she always wanted to help in any way she could. Helen helped mold her family with faith and her time here with us will always be remembered because of her great love for the Lord. Helen is now celebrating a better life with Roy, her loving husband along with all the family and friends and her sweet dog Lucky that have gone before her. Till we all meet again Mom. We will miss you but cherish the time we had with you.

Her memories will live on through her family. Helen is survived by her daughter, Susan Bertrand of Gulf Shores, AL; son, Karl Bertrand of Reddell; grandchildren, Chris Bertrand of Mamou and Debbie Bertrand Velek of Reddell; great-grandchildren, Rusty Vidrine of Reddell, Megan Velek of Mamou, Christopher Velek, Jr., of Reddell, Aliya Bertrand of Mamou, Ella Grace Bertrand of Mamou, and Andrew Ardoin of Monroe; great-great grandchildren, Ava Gwen Vidrine and Silas Vidrine of Reddell; brother, Darwin Andrepont of Fannett, TX; step-brothers, Russell Andrepont of Lumberton, TX, Aurelis Andrepont, Jr. of Lumberton, TX, and Wilton Andrepont of Ville Platte.

Helen is preceded in death by her parents, Aurelis Andrepont and Ena Fontenot; husband, Roy Bertrand, brother, Orin Andrepont; and half-sister Gloria Andrepont.
