Mamou It is with great sadness that the family of Gerald P. Soileau, 68 announces his passing on Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at his residence. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated on Friday, April 24, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. in St. Anns Catholic Church in Mamou. Rite of Committal will follow in the New St. Anns Mausoleum in Mamou with Fr. Richard Broussard Celebrant.
Gerald, a resident of the Vidrine Community and a native of Mamou, served in the United States Army and retired from Conoco. He will be remembered for his love of life. An avid hunter and fisherman he enjoyed the outdoors by gardening, camping, and having a hobby in farming. A loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great grandfather, Gerald will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 4712 years, Verona O. Soileau of Vidrine; three sons, Barry Soileau and his wife, Angie of Mamou, Ranson Soileau and wife, Belinda of Reddell, and Brian Soileau and wife, Betsy of Pine Prairie; two daughters, Pam S. Duplechain and husband, Derrel of Cecilia and Trisha S. Landreneau and husband, David of Pine Prairie; four brothers, Lindsey Joseph Soileau, Jr. of Lake Charles, Joseph Lee Soileau of Ville Platte, Richard Wayne Soileau of Dry Creek, and Derald P. Soileau of Ville Platte; twenty two grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lindsey Soileau, Sr. and Eula B. Soileau.
Family request that visiting hours be observed Thursday, April 23, 2009 from 3:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. and again on Friday, April 24, 2009 from 8:00 a.m. until time of services. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
Ardoins Funeral Home in Mamou is in charge of arrangements.
