MAMOU It is with great sadness that the family of Gene Erwin Manuel, 80 announces his passing on April 29, 2011 at 2:00 am at Savoy Medical Center. A Mass of Christian burial will be Celebrated on Saturday, April 30, 2011 at 12:00 am at St. Anns Catholic Church in Mamou. Rite of Committal will follow in the New St. Anns Mausoleum, with Father Connley Bertrand Officiating.
Mr. Manuel, a resident of Mamou, was a retired Postman. A loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, he will be lovingly remembered by his wife , Cherrie Young Manuel of Mamou two daughters, Krista M. Soileau and husband Reed, of Sugar Land, Texas and Leah Bakker and husband, John of Slidell, La one son, Chad and wife, Veronica Manuel of Mamou, La seven grandchildren, Brandon Soileau, Misty Arnold, Chad Manuel, Jr. Kaleb Manuel, Abigael Manuel, Phillip Bakker and Hannah Bakker one greatgrandchild, Clare Yui Mr. Manuel was a Veteran of the Korean Confliict having served in the U.S. Air Force.

Family request that visiting hours be observed Friday, April 29, 2010 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm, and again on Saturday, April 30, 2011 from 8:00 am until time of services. A rosary will be recited Friday evening at 6:30 pm.
