Gaynell Manuel, born on October 27, 1953, in Ville Platte, Louisiana, departed this life on November 30, 2025, in Mamou, Louisiana. She was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother whose spirit touched the lives of many.
Gaynell was known for her deep connection to nature, finding joy in gardening and listening to the melodic songs of birds. Her passion for the outdoors was not just a hobby but a testament to her appreciation for life’s simple pleasures. She brought warmth and kindness to those around her, embodying the lushness she cultivated in her gardens.
She leaves behind her cherished family, including her husband, Glenn Manuel, and her two sons, James Guillory and wife Lisa, and Shannon Guillory. Additionally, she is survived by her eight grandchildren: Alissia Guillory, Christy Guillory, Samson Guillory, David Guillory, Dylan Guillory, Amber Hogg, Kenneth Soileau, and Cameron Soileau and 16 great grandchildren. Each of them carries a piece of her love and wisdom, reflecting her nurturing spirit. She is also survived by brothers, Glen Dupre and wife, Caroline and Berkman Dupre, and wife, Loretta.
Gaynell is preceded in death by her parents, Anatole Dupre and Ovelia Roy Dupre; two sisters, Winnie Mae Gobert and Margie Vidrine; five brothers, Weston Dupre, L.D. Dupre, Norman Dupre, Anatole Dupre, Jr., Weldon Fruge Dupre, Jr., and Preston Dupre.
A visitation in her honor will take place on December 4, 2025, starting at 8:00 AM and concluding at 1:00 PM at First Baptist Church. This will be followed by a funeral service at the same location from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, where friends and family will gather to celebrate Gaynell’s life and legacy. Burial will follow in the Manuel Cemetery on Bieber Road in Mamou with Pastor Brandon Mayo officiating services.
