MAMOUIt is with immense sadness and heavy hearts that the family of, Flora Fontenot, 86 announce his passing on Monday, February 24, 2014 at 12:30 PM at Savoy Medical Center in Mamou. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 3:00 pm on Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at St. Anns Catholic Church in Mamou. Rite of Committal will follow in the new St. Anns Cemetery in Mamou, with Father Mark Melancon as Celebrant.
Flora was a wonderful father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend He was a Veteran of the Korean War. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him. He was a carpenter for G.J. Deville Lumber Company for years. He worked at True Value in later years.
Flora will be greatly missed by his son, Eric Mark Fontenot and wife, Valerie of Mamou, two daughters, Mrs. Michael Lelia Bordelon of Bordelonville and Ms. Myra Fontenot of Denham Springs two sisters, Mary Ida Curran and husband, Ray of Mamou and Gloria Mae Dimartino of Baton Rouge five grandchildren, Misti Fontenot, Krista Vidrine and husband, Joel, Erica McPhatter and husband, Brett, Mary Allison and Adam Mark Fontenot three great grandchildren, Blaze Vidrine, Devin and Madison Fontenot Flora will now reunite in Heaven with his wife, Grada Belle Ledoux Fontenot, his parents, Pascal and Louise Fontenot and one brotherinlaw, Sam Dimartino.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoins Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 25, 2014 from 3:00 pm until10:00 pm A Rosary will be recited at 6:00 pm The Funeral Home will reopen on Wednesday at 7:00 am until time of services.
