Obituary

Essie Bamburg, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on June 25, 2026, at Oaklane Nursing Home. She was surrounded by loved ones during her final moments, a testament to the closeness and warmth that defined her remarkable 85 years of life.

Essie was born on August 23, 1940, in Mamou, Louisiana, where she would spend much of her life. Known for her outgoing and vivacious nature, she was vibrant and loud, someone who could talk to anyone and naturally drew people to her. Her friendly presence made her a cherished member of her community and her family.

A devoted parishioner of St. Ann Catholic Church, Essie’s faith was steadfast and deep-rooted. Her life revolved around her family and friends, and her home was always open for laughter, conversation, and connection. Whether it was a family gathering or a chance encounter at the grocery store, Essie made every moment special through her genuine interest in others and effortless charm.

Essie had a zest for the joys both big and small in life. She found great delight in going to the horse races with her husband, Jack, sharing her excitement and stories with those around her. She also had a creative spirit, enjoying sewing and arts and crafts, pastimes that gave her an outlet to express her artistic side. Essie loved playing cards and dominoes, often gathering with family and friends around a lively table. Her favorite moments were spent simply visiting with people, catching up on news, and sharing laughter and wisdom.

She leaves behind her devoted husband, Jack Bamburg, and four loving daughters: Paula Bieber, Deb Young, Sandra Bamburg, and Dene` Bamburg, each of whom carries forward her legacy of warmth, humor, and strength. Her memory will also be treasured by her grandchildren: Kody Bieber, Anna Bieber, Amy Scully, Jessica Mojica, Dominque Mojica, and Abby Bamburg. Essie’s siblings, Keith Guillory and Brenda Guillory, mourn the loss of their cherished sister.

Essie was preceded in death by her father, Dennie, mother Yola Guillory, grandson Tyler Bamburg, brother John Guillory, and sisters Vernita Fontenot and Kathleen King. The memory of these beloved family members remained dear to her heart throughout her life.

Those wishing to pay their respects are invited to attend the visitation at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Mamou on Friday, June 26, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM, with a rosary service at 6:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Saturday, June 27, 2026, from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM at St. Ann Catholic Church in Mamou, followed by burial at Reed Cemetery in Mamou with Father Billy Massie officiating.

Essie will be dearly missed but fondly remembered for her joyful spirit, welcoming nature, and the deep bonds she forged with all whose lives she touched. Her legacy is one of love, laughter, and an unwavering devotion to her family and faith. The family would like to extend their thanks to the nurses at Oaklane Nursing Home, who Mrs. Essie loved very much.
