alignleftMAMOU-A Mass of Christian Burial for Elvin Bogard, 75, will be Celebrated at 1:00 pm Friday, March 6, 2009 at St. Anns Catholic Church in Mamou. Rite of Committal will follow in the Ortego Cemetery with Father Bryce Sibley officiating.
Elvin, a resident of Iota and a native of Lanse Gries, passed away on Wednesday, March 4,2009 at his residence. He was a retired Heavy Equipment Operator. Mr. Bogard was a member of the Knights Of Columbus, the Evangeline Council 4906, Woodman of the World, and an avid musician and a devoted husband and father.
A loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, Elvin is survived by his wife, Rita Bertrand Bogard of Iota; three sons, Daniel Odom and wife, Jennifer of Ville Platte, Dale Bogard, and Thomas Tommy Bogard and wife, Liz, all of Iota; one daughter, Christina Guillory and husband, David of Shreveport; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilson Jack and Oline Bogard; one sister, Mable Fontenot; and three brothers, Calvin, Lou Ray, and Darwin Bogard.
The family request that visiting hours be observed on Thursday, March 5, 2009 from 3:30 pm until Midnight and again on Friday , March 6, 2009 from 8:00 am until time of services. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm Thursday evening.
