Elsie Mae Brignac Bertrand

MAMOU  – A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St Ann's Catholic Church at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, for Elsie Mae Brignac Bertrand, 92, who passed away on Sunday, August 13, 2023. Father Massie will be the celebrant of the Mass and conduct funeral services. Burial will take place in New St. Ann's Cemetery.

Elsie Mae Brignac Bertrand was born April 8, 1931, to Douglas Brignac & Leonie Fontenot.  On October 2, 1948 she married the love of her life, Clarence Bertrand. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, baking and making holiday decorations. When her children were younger she looked forward to the summer vacations at Holly Beach.  Elsie spent most of her life working as a seamstress and a sales clerk.  She was an amazing mother, wife, grandmother, and friend.

She is survived by her daughter; Angela Bertrand Bellow and husband Jerome David Bellow; son, Clarence Perry Bertrand; Granddaughters, Alicia Bellow Franklin, Nichole Bellow and Melissa Bellow; and two Great-Grandchildren; Elizabeth Franklin and William Franklin.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Douglas Brignac and Leonie Fontenot Brignac; husband, Clarence Bertrand; and sisters, Emma Joy Ortego and Effie Bertrand.

At the request of the family, visitation will be observed at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Mamou on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, from 10:00 AM until dismissal at 1:30 PM.
