MAMOU-Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 PM at Deshotel’s Cemetery on Friday, July 24, 2020 for Dr. Prentiss Perkins, 62, who passed away on July 11, 2020, in Ville Platte, LA.
Burial will take place in Deshotel's Cemetery in Pine Point Cemetery.
Prentiss Anthony Perkins was born on April 14, 1958, to Tommy and Dorothy Perkins. He was originally from Westlake, LA before moving to Mamou to open his dental practice. He is a graduate of McNeese State University and LSU School of Dentistry. He was a member of the Quarterback Club and a Paul Harris Fellow of the Mamou Rotary Club. In 2001, he was voted Man of the Year for the town of Mamou. He was instrumental in fundraisers that widely benefited Mamou. Prentiss was an avid hunter and fisherman. He fished countless tournaments and rodeos. He holds several LA state records. He also enjoyed his weekly card games and cooking.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years Wendy Sarbeck Perkins; two sons Garrett and Brett Perkins of Mamou; his mother, Dorothy "Ms. Dot" Perkins of Mamou; sister, Mellony Patin of Westlake, LA; mother-in-law, Dorothy Sarbeck of Huffman, TX;,as well as brother and sister in laws; and nieces and nephews.
Prentiss is preceded in death by his father, Tommy Perkins; grandparents, Prentiss and Flossie Perkins, Arthur and Clara Lodrigue, Stepfather Wilton Guillory; and father in law, Bernard Sarbeck.
At the request of the family, visitation will be observed at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Mamou on Friday, July 24, 2020 from 9:00 AM until 1:30 PM.
