MAMOU-It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Dorothy Smith announces her passing at Savoy Medical Center in Mamou on May 09, 2016 at 6:40 p.m. at the age of 92. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, May 12, 2016 at 11:00 am. at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Mamou. Rite of Committal will follow in the New St. Ann's Cemetery with Father Kenneth Mayne as Celebrant.
Dorothy was employed at Savoy Medical Center for 32 years as a nurse anesthetist.
A wonderful mother, grandmother and friend Dorothy will be greatly missed by her children, Kathy Roble and husband, Rudy of Clearwater Fl, Ted Smith and wife, Vivian of Mamou, Chris Smith and wife, Lisa of Alexandria, Ginny Ardoin and husband, Scott of Vidrine and one son-in-law, Steve Heard of Lake Charles; fourteen grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.
Dorothy will now reunite in Heaven with her husband, John P. Smith, Jr and daughter, Joanne Smith Heard. They surely await her arrival with open arms and joyous hearts.

At the request of the Smith family visitation will be held at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Mamou on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. A rosary will be recited at 6:00 pm on Wednesday by Deacon Chuck Ortego. The funeral home will reopen at 8:00 am on Thursday until time of services.
