Dolorous "Sis" Duplechain Spears, born December 17, 1934, peacefully passed away on June 2, 2026, at Savoy Medical Center. She was a woman whose life was deeply rooted in faith, family, and the simple joys that defined her unique spirit.

A faithful Christian at Pilgrams Rest Baptist Church, Sis carried her faith with grace and steadfast devotion throughout her life. She loved her family dearly and was a guiding light who taught her granddaughters the importance of respecting and honoring their marriages, instilling values that will endure for generations.

Sis’s passions brought warmth and joy to those around her. She found pleasure in traveling to the mountains, attending bluegrass music festivals, and immersing herself in the uplifting sounds of gospel music. Her love for the outdoors was evident in her fondness for gardening and spending cherished weekends at the camp during squirrel season with her family, moments that strengthened bonds and created lasting memories.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Vena Duplechain; her husband, Robert "Sonny" Spears; her son, Calvin Brent Spears; her brothers, Leotis and Merlin Duplechain; and a host of other beloved family and friends whom she missed dearly through the years.

Sis leaves behind a loving and extensive family, who carry forward her legacy: her devoted son Todd Allen Spears and his wife Francine; her 9 grandchildren Kyle Spears (Angela), Dustin Spears, Krista LeBouef (Justin), Julia Fontenot (Luke), Jonathan Spears, Morgan Gradney (Jeremy), Shem Spears (Paige), Sloan Spears, and Nathanael Spears (Dalie); as well as 30 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Two sisters, Wanda McDaniel and Clairlynn Smith, and brother Sam Duplechain, all of whom deeply treasured her presence and guidance.

A Visitation to honor Dolorous "Sis" Duplechain Spears will be held on June 4, 2026, beginning at 1:00 PM until 10:00 PM at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Mamou. Visitation will continue from 8:00 AM until services at 11:00 AM at Ardoin's Funeral Home chapel on June 5, 2026 . Sis’s life was a testament to love, faith, and dedication. She leaves behind a heritage of cherished memories and enduring values that will continue to inspire all who knew her. Her presence will be profoundly missed, yet her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends.
