It is with great sorrow and heavy hearts that the family of Dixie Jane Fontenot announces her passing on Monday, June 24, 2024, in Vidrine, at the age of 86. Dixie was born in Ville Platte, Louisiana on Monday, July 5, 1937, to Clifton and Mary Lou Fruge. From an early age, Dixie was a very compassionate and loving person who felt that spending time with her family was the greatest joy. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by those she held close to her heart.
Dixie is survived by her two daughters, Sue Fontenot of Eunice and Kathy Aguillard (Kent) of Vidrine; son, Jimmy Fontenot (Gwen) of Reddell; and eight grandchildren, Heather Fuselier (Jamie), Jody Savant, Brittany Thibodeaux (John), Kevin Aguillard (Jennifer), Kristopher Aguillard (Candace), Jason Fontenot, Jared Fontenot (Brandi), and Jada Fontenot (Garrett). Also left behind to cherish her memory are her 14 great grandchildren, Trevor (Lila), Haleigh, Abby, Dylan (Hallie), Everitt, Kolton, Vivienne, Avery, Max, Caroline, Elli, Brayden, Bella, and Millie and four great great grandchildren, Porter, Ellie, Ezra, and Aubrey.
Dixie is preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband, E. F. B. (Bertwood) Fontenot; parents, Clifton and Mary Lou Fruge; three sisters, Rose Duplechin, Nell Vidrine, and Barbara Farrill; and brother, James Carrol Fruge.
