DeJean Guillory Jr., a beloved member of the Mamou community, passed away tragically on October 5, 2023, at the age of 68. Born on August 20, 1955, in Mamou, Louisiana, DeJean was the son of DeJean Guillory Sr. and Edith McDaniel Guillory.
DeJean lived his entire life in Mamou. He had a passion for singing and writing songs, which brought joy to those around him. He cherished his time spent with family, always enjoying their company.
DeJean is survived by his family, Grant Guillory, and wife Rebecca from Hineston; sisters, Sophie Guillory of Scott, Janet Lavergne, and her husband Kermit Lavergne of Mamou. He is also survived by his brother Rufus McDaniel, and his wife Tammy of Glenmora, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
He is proceeded in death by his parents, DeJean Guillory, Sr. and Edith McDaniel Guillory, and brothers, Jeffery Guillory, Willie and Gideon Johnson, and R. D. McDaniel.
DeJean's departure from this earth has left a void in the lives of those who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed by his family and the Mamou community that he called home.
In this time of sorrow, the family would like to express their gratitude for the support and condolences they have received. DeJean Guillory Jr.'s memory will forever live on in the hearts and minds of those fortunate enough to have shared in his life.
