MAMOU - Deborah Dean Valdez was born in Houston, Texas to Mitchell Johnson and Wilma Dean Young; she was a long-time resident of Mamou. Debbie as she was known to family and friends, was a straightforward lady who always spoke her mind. She also lived her life serving others. Debbie was a long-time worker and manager for Popeyes Fried Chicken where she was dedicated to her job and worked hard to do it the best she could. When not working, Debbie enjoyed reading, potting plants, and sitting with those she loved to have a glass of sweet tea. Debbie passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, March 14, 2020 in Mamou at the age of 67. Those she leaves behind will cherish her memory always.
Debbie is survived by her son, Shelton Robinson of Mamou and sisters Sandy Granger of Mamou, Charlene Amiot and husband, Daniel, of Eunice, and Darlene Melancon and husband, Kevin of Mamou.
She is preceded in death by her parents Mitchell Johnson and Wilma Dean Young; brothers, Steve and Tony Johnson; and sister Jenny Miller.
