It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the passing of Louis "David" Daugereaux on August 26, 2026, at the age of 74. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, August 31, 2026, at 10 AM at St. Ann's Catholic Church, with Father Arockia Doss Palthasar officiating.
David was born on February 29, 1952, in Mamou. He built his life around faith, family, and hard work. He was a crawfish and rice farmer, and he took pride in that work. He earned a Bachelor's degree in Agronomy from UL, a course of study that matched the life he would go on to pursue on the family farm. Continuing his father's legacy and preserving their multi-generational family farm was one of David's proudest accomplishments.
While attending college, David played football for UL, an accomplishment that remained a meaningful part of his life. He would often share fond memories with his family about playing football. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting and, despite his quiet nature, could easily talk about his preferred firearm and hunting locations. He was known as a reserved man, steady in his ways and devoted to what mattered most to him. His faith was an important part of his life. He was a dedicated parishioner at Annunciation Catholic Church in Duralde and was also a member of the Knights of Columbus for more than 30 years.
David will be remembered with love by his family. He is survived by his sons, Joseph and wife Kellie Daugereaux; Andre and wife Rebekah Daugereaux; his sister, Patricia Daugereaux; and his grandchildren, Issac, Whitley, Amelia, and Camille Daugereaux. May they find comfort in the many memories they shared with him and in the example of a life marked by quiet strength, commitment, and faith.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Edwina Daugereaux of 51 years; his brother, Dennis Daugereaux; and his parents, JB and Verdie Daugereaux.
At the family's request, visitation will begin on Sunday, August 30, 2026, at 4 PM until 9 PM at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Mamou. A rosary will be prayed at 6 PM on Sunday. Visitation will resume on Monday, August 31, 2026, from 8 AM until the time of service. Burial at New St. Ann's Cemetery will follow the Mass.
David’s life was one of dedication to his family, his church, his work, and his community. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
