MAMOU - Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM at Ardoin's Funeral Home Chapel in Mamou on Monday, January 15, 2018, for Clarence "Junior" Lavergne, Jr., 65, who passed away on Thursday, January 11, 2018 at his residence surrounded by his loved ones.

Brother Terry Lafleur will be will be conducting the funeral services.

Burial will take place in Pine Point Cemetery.

Junior was a long time boxing coach. He trained his own boys to become boxers. Junior served as Captain of Mamou Mardi Gras for many years. He wore many hats when it came to law enforcement. Junior served on the Mamou Police Department, Evangeline Parish Sherriff's Depart, Security Officer for Mamou Skating Rink, and Security Officer for Mamou Mardi Gras. He had a love for politics. Junior will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Delores Lavergne; daughter, Maggie Lavergne of Pine Prairie; sons, Keith Lavergne and wife Micki of Cut Off, LA, Joshua Lavergne and wife Kristen of Mamou, Lucas Lavergne and wife Robin of Mamou, Brian Slusser and wife Naomi of Kaulia, HI, and Cory Slusser and wife Penny of Eunice; 17 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; sisters, Betty Lavergne of Church Point and Mona Lavergne of Pine Prairie; Kermit Lavergne and wife Janet of Mamou, Ricky McGee and wife Michelle of Mamou, and Curtis McGee of Mamou; his first wife Vickki Lavergne of Mamou; and his good friends, Gorden Johnson, Robert Pitre, and Greg Dupuis.

Junior is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Lillian Meche Lavergne, Sr.; brothers, Oliver Lavergne and Alton Lavergne; and sisters, Mary Dupuis, Micky Lavergne, and Rita McGee.

The family requests that visitation be observed at Ardoin's Funeral Home of Mamou on Sunday, January 14, 2018 from 10:00 AM until 10:00 PM. Visitation will continue Monday from 8:00 AM until time of service.
