Mamou- Funeral services for Chester J. Fontenot, 85, were held Sunday , April 1, 2007at 1:00 p.m. at St. Anns Catholic Church . Interment followed in the New St. Anns Cemetery.

Mr. Fontenot, a resident of Mamou, died on Saturday, March 31, 2007 in Iowa, Louisiana. He was also a veteran of World War II and a retired carpenter.

Mr. Fontenot is survived by three sons, Edward Glen Fontenot of Iowa, Malcom Joseph Fontenot of Mamou, and Carl James Fontenot of White House, Tx; one daughter, Shalinda Fontenot Oliver of Frisco, Tx; one niece, Evelyn Guillory of Eunice; nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita Saucier Fontenot; parents, Frederick and Margaret Fontenot; one daughter, Sheila Marie Fontenot; and one brother, Camey Fontenot.

Visitation took on Saturday, March 31, 2007 from 4:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. The funeral home reopened 8:00 a.m. until time of services. A rosary was recited at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday.
