MAMOU-Funeral Services will be held at a 3:00 PM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Mamou on Friday, October 25, 2019, for Benjamin “Ben” Heath Balfa, 41, who passed away on Monday, October 21, 2019.
Father Billy Massie, Pastor of St. Ann’s Catholic Church, will be celebrant of the mass.
Benjamin “Ben” Heath Balfa was born on March 22, 1978 in Mamou, LA. Ben had a big smile and an even bigger heart. He loved dancing to Cajun and Classic Country Music. He enjoyed working as an oilfield dispatcher. He was full of life and loved hanging out and having fun with his friends. He was a very proud godfather. Ben was a diehard LSU football fan and rarely missed watching a game. He loved his time in the woods camping and sitting around the campfire talking and making many wonderful memories with his family and friends. To know him was to love him.
He is survived by his mother, Ramona Hollier Yarbrough and husband Bobby; father, Harry Balfa, Jr.; sister, Bridget Balfa; daughter Shai Balfa; and niece, Stevie Kay Ashford and husband Brandon.
Ben is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Harry Balfa, Sr. and Mildred Israel and maternal grandparents, Leonard Hollier and Lula P. Hollier.
The family request that visitation be observed at Ardoin’s Funeral Home of Mamou on Thursday, October 24, 2019 from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM. A rosary will be recited by Deacon Gene LeBouef on Thursday at 6:00 PM. Visitation will resume on Friday, October 25, 2019 from 11:00 AM until 2:30 PM.
