MAMOU - Funeral services will be held at a 1:00 PM Mass of Christian burial at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Mamou on Tuesday, March 19, 2019 for Barbara Ann Hollier Israel, 78, who passed away on March 16, 2019 in Lafayette.

Father Billy Massie, pastor of St. Ann's Catholic Church, will be celebrant of the mass and conduct funeral services.

Burial will take place in the New St. Ann's Cemetery.

Barbara Israel was born in Mamou, Louisiana on September 30, 1940 to Eluis Hollier and Amy Guillory Hollier. She later married Army veteran, Calvin Israel. After living away for many years, she returned to her home town of Mamou and worked at Savoy Medical Center, was a sitter for the sick, and worked at other various jobs. She enjoyed growing plants, working in the yard, playing Bingo, and drinking coffee with friends. She also enjoyed coloring, working puzzles, and watching the Food Network. Barbara was a devout Catholic, spending time in the adoration chapel and praying the rosary daily. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family.

Barbara is survived by three children: Faye Israel Chapman and husband Kirk, Marie Israel Aucoin and husband Tony, and Denise Israel Parnell; four grandchildren: Danyelle D. Lafleur, Ashley Israel, Clay Chapman, and Hannah D. Coward; four great grandchildren: Kayden Serie, Sylas Guillory, Tyler Coward, and Regan Lafleur; brother, Roger Hollier; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Calvin Israel, and parents, Eluis Hollier and Amy Guillory Hollier.

The family requests that visitation be observed at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Mamou on Monday, March 18, 2019 from 4:00 PM - 9:00 PM. Visitation will resume Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at 8:00 AM until time of services. A rosary will be recited on Monday evening at 6:00 PM by Deacon Chuck Ortego.
