MAMOU – Barbara Rougeau Aucoin, a devoted mother and adored grandmother, whose heart overflowed with unconditional love, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, surrounded by her beloved family, at the age of 86. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Mamou at 2:00 pm on Monday, May 13, 2024. Burial will follow in the New St. Ann’s Cemetery.
Barbara's unwavering faith in God radiated through every aspect of her life. As a devoted Catholic, she drew comfort and fortitude from her beliefs and generously shared her blessings with those in her midst.
She found happiness in life's simple joys. Barbara took pleasure in shopping trips and had a keen eye for selecting garments, discovering beauty in the minutiae that others might overlook. Her pastimes reflected her gratitude for life's myriad moments, both grand and small.
She will be deeply missed by her daughter, Renee Deshotels; her grandchildren, Eric Pinell, Justin Reed, Rachel LeJeune, and Crystal Johnson and her eight great-grandchildren.
Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Verlie Rougeau; her husband, Malcolm E. Aucoin; her daughters, Camille A. Reed and Rachel Aucoin; her brothers, Warren Rougeau and Edward Lynn Rougeau; and her grandparents, Camille and Karrel Fontenot.
At the family’s request, a visitation will be held at Ardoin's Funeral Home of Mamou on Monday, May 13, 2024, beginning at 9:00 am with a Rosary being prayed at 1:00 pm.
