MAMOU – Funeral services will be held at a 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Mamou on Friday, June 7, 2019, for John Castille, Jr., 74, who passed away on Tuesday, June 4, 2019.
Father Billy Massie, Pastor of St. Ann’s, will be celebrant of the Mass and conduct funeral services.
Burial will take place in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Chataignier, LA.
John Castille, Jr. was born in Mamou, LA on September 14, 1944 to John Castille, Sr. and Gertie Castille. John worked in the Oil and Gas Industry all his life. When he was not hard at work providing for his family, he enjoyed working in his vegetable garden and cooking. He was a diehard Saints fan and cheered them on whether they were winning or losing. John’s greatest love was the love he had for his family. He passionately did all he could to ensure their success. He was a great man who will be missed dearly by all who knew him.
John leaves behind to cherish his memories the love of his life and wife of 32 years, Elaine Castille; sons, Mike Castille of Chataignier and Darrin Castille of Ville Platte; daughters, Gwen Brown of Pine Prairie, Sheryl Landreneau of Mamou, and Debbie Ardoin of Mamou; sister, Rita Castille of Arnaudville; step-children, Jada Charlie of Point Blue, Maya Deshotel of Mamou, and Brian Deshotel of Opelousas; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
John is preceded in death by his parents, John Castille, Sr. and Gertie Castille; and four siblings.
The family requests that visitation be observed at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Mamou on Thursday, June 6 from 4:00 PM until 10:00 PM. Visitation will resume Friday, June 7 at 8:00 AM until time of service. A rosary, led by Deacon Chuck Ortego, will be recited on Thursday evening at 6:00 PM.
