MAMOU- Funeral Services will be held during an 3:00 PM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Mamou on Friday, September 20, 2019, for Grace Ann Soileau, 77, who passed away on Wednesday, September 18, 2019 in Ville Platte, LA surrounded by her loved ones.
Father Billy Massie, Pastor of St. Ann’s Catholic Church, will be the celebrant of the mass.
Grace Ann Soileau was born on December 20, 1941 in Mamou, LA to Clements and Mary Saucier Fontenot. She along with her husband owned and operated World Treasures Gifts of Ville Platte. She had a green thumb and always took pride in her plants and flowers and had a beautiful backyard. She was very strong-willed. She was a devout Catholic. Grace loved the outdoors and watching her hummingbirds. She loved spending time with her family; especially at her annual Halloween party. She touched the lives of so many, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her two daughters, Jessica Lane Pohl and husband Bruce of Weatherford, TX and Gretchell Lee Rogers and husband Kenny of Ragley, LA; eleven grandchildren, Justin Lafleur and Ross Lafleur, Johnathan Spears, Morgan Reed, Shem Spears, Sloan Clark, Lauren Pohl, Christopher Pohl, Nathanael Spears, Stephen Pohl and Ethyn Rogers; fourteen great grandchildren; one sister, Nina Fontenot of Pine Prairie; two brothers, Grady Fontenot and wife Barbara of Ville Platte and Bennett Fontenot of Grand Lake, LA and close family friends, Vinice and Wilda DeVille.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Ashley Soileau; her daughter, Brenda Marie Lafleur; four sisters, Patsy Ledeau; Ethel Young, Fernella Fontenot and Charlene Matte.
The family requests that visitation be observed at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Mamou on Friday, September 20, 2019 from 9:00 AM until time of service. A rosary will be recited at 2:00 PM by Deacon Chuck Ortego.
